Today is my day off.
When I go to my favorite haunt.
Where it's peaceful.
Where I can be myself.
With things I love.
A bottle of juice and a book I haven't read.
Some say books may become obsolete.
For me, they'd never die.
They know the history of the world, both real and imagined.
They recall the stories people forget.
They've held more lives than could ever have held them in return.
Books age beautifully.
No wonder I'm a librarian.
It feels like I've been one forever.
