MANIFESTO started in 2015 as an exercise to reduce the wardrobe to a version of seasonless essentials. As things happen organically, the collection evolved into something very un-basic. The Fashion Art Manifesto Is Life Year 2018 (F.A.M.I.L.Y. 2018) was born and created with the key beliefs of sustainability, otherness, collaboration, and humanitarianism guiding the process. If fashion is a medium, and clothing is a product, everything in-between and the images/videos that document them should still apply. At face value, you can see references to Filipino roots evident in the UBEr and aUBErgine eggplant print that loop back to a global/universal cultural conversation. With accessories that are presented as multi-functional DIY kits, the consumer is also the creator and participant in the craft making art process. Encouraging a smaller consumer footprint, we suggest starting with a spare sock (albeit, sold in pairs). Matching socks is a fashion rule we need to get over. Our logo necklace is available as an activity kit of parts, multifunctional for the user, and makes a nostalgic, "non-fashion" statement in that we all toyed with paperclips as kids. For anyone open to dissecting the layered and printed looks, we do think there's something in there for everyone, all year round. You just might want it in solid denim. And that is a welcome application.
